Glenn Tucker – A kinder, gentler molester

Half your age, minus seven

Some while ago, a very friendly officemate with very nice double Ds was just delighted to tell me that her boyfriend was my high school classmate. I remember Mikey, mostly because of how quiet he was. He never raised his hand, never did in extra-curricular activities, just wasn’t into people that much.

“You like that cake, Satan”, Double D chirped up, wiping crumbs of peanut butter cookie from the side of her butterface.

“Great stuff”, I relied, wiping icing off my RuckusFace.

Boyfriend/Classmate jumps up and says, “Its our seven year anniversary and her 21st birthday!”

” We’re the same age Mikey”, was my reply.

“Well yuh now, all dem big woman had a car-man, when mi did ova SoSci, so yuh kno, we haffi guh lower, sixth form, fifth form , yuh nuh…” ¹, was what Mikey was able to stammer out.

“Okayplaya”, was my simple reply. Double D had to go to the bathroom for a while.

By the next day, Double D went from being a very friendly officemate, to a much less visible, less friendly co-worker. It just goes to show how desire has a way of interfering with middle-class social norms. A 29 year old in a 7 year relationship with a now 21 year old girl, has obviously developed a different set of values form the Jamaican Mainstream.

The Nice Guy. Jamaican Edition.

Glenn Tucker has a problem. You might read his most recent Gleaner article and think that he has many problems. Problems with Pastors. Problems with deadbeat dads and stepdad wife beaters. Problems with underclass and overburdened single moms. Problems with underdressed and overdeveloped young girls. Here he is on parents.

As a group, the real perpetrators of this crime are the endless succession of ‘stepfathers’ unloaded on these helpless children by thoughtless mothers. First, the bonding is absent. That would have to have started well before even the diaper days. These men did not sign on to become fathers. And the children did not choose them.

Some of the ‘stepdads’ are in and out in a year. Then it’s the next one. And the next.

And on pastors.

Everyone has a ‘pastor’ story to tell, but why is it possible for them to do these things? I know a mother who dolls up her daughter in nice short, sexy little dresses twice each week and sends her off to pastor for ‘driving lessons’. Four years later, when she became my friend at age 16 (do the math), she still did not know the difference between the stick and the ignition. This one is not likely to reach the courts, however, because she tells me gleefully that Pastor is “really, really good”. And her mother is quite happy with the slow pace of his ‘driving’ classes.

If you read that above quote, about him befriending 16 year olds, while watching said 16 year old being “dolled up” for four years previous, then you may have some idea of the problem. And no, I don’t mean the difference between a pedophile and an ephebophile. Jump to the last part of the Gleaner article.

And here is one more uncomfortable truth. Because of the extent of family disorganisation in this country, it is us dirty old men who are keeping the bodies and souls of these ‘victims’ together, making them graduate from school. And university, in some cases. (emphasis mine)

When in trouble, blame thugs

I, think, it was around 2002, I was watching the final episode of Teen Summit, when they took on a caller. The gentleman begun to say a lot the things that are repeated ad nauseum in the African-American web. He spoke of how all the women his age were dating “bad boys”, and “thugs” and “jocks” blah, blah, blah. But what was different about thugblamer circa 2002, vs thugblamer 201X was the solution: “You know, if these chicks are refusing us, the nerd, sometimes we have go elsewhere…” In 2002 however, elsewhere was not other races of women but “a bit lower, like 17, 16 , 14 you know…” Obviously Teen Summit called him out , but, calling out someone, doesn’t mean they go away.

Notice both the caller and Mr. Tucker  have to blame people who they feel are at the bottom to make themselves look good. They do not care about the people they blame. The blame is just a magicians’s trick to divert the eye from their true objective. Notice that they have very strange ways of showing their concern – a grown man calling a TV program called “Teen Summit”, while Mr. Tucker feels it necessary to befriend teenage girls, instead of calling CISOCA.

When mentorship becomes molestership

Break down the people Tucker blames. Single mothers for breeding like jackrabbits. Deadbeat dads for not being in their children’s lives. Stepdads for using mom and molesting child. And these girl children (notice that victims is in quotes) who are just using the system to get what they want. From an Observer article he wrote in May 2015

What has that child done for the day? Did he/she attend school? If not, where did he/she go? With whom? What did they do? Was there really a bus problem? How did he/she come by that piece of jewellery? And that BlackBerry?

And from the earlier Gleaner article:

So they start to make their ‘contribution’ by engaging in criminal activities  also deceiving and devising strategies to part men from their belongings.  Much of the tragedies we are now experiencing have their genesis in such activities.(emphasis mine)

So after reading the above, it should be easier to see how he can say something like “it is us dirty old men who are keeping the bodies and souls of these ‘victims’ together, making them graduate from school. And university, in some cases.” He is not the criminal but “As a group, the real perpetrators of this crime are the endless succession of ‘stepfathers’ unloaded on these helpless children by thoughtless mothers.” are who he must blame, in order to make himself look good.

In his mind, he is just a benevolent member of the Jamaican mainstream mentoring young girls who would otherwise be batteried²   beaten-up and buggered by some ghetto thug or whatever stepdad, or some pastor.  You see, he’s not going to be daggering³  out your daughter’s vagina till she ends up at Kingston Public with her vagina so bruised that they have to raise her legs up in a harness so that her thighs don’t touch.

No! He’s not going to molest your daughter! He’s going to make love to her! And not only that , but he will provide the emotional support of a father, the after-school help of a teacher, the romantic chivalry of a boyfriend, the sexual prowess of a dirty old man, and the financial support of sugar daddy. Not so sure about that sugar daddy thing though, what with university tuition and all that. Might as well just dump her off after high school graduation.

So now we see the problem with Glenn Tucker and his ilk. They believe that all that matters is their intent – not their behaviour. That’s all that matters to them. They meant well, so any thing bad that results is not their fault.

Objectively, molesting a 14 year old is the same thing, basically defined as, making love to her, but not to Glenn Tucker. Mr. Tucker and the other “dirty old men” mean well and that’s that. The fact they have just created a new class of mentally fucked up women, who will be just as emotionally damaged and insecure as their ghetto counterparts is not something that matters to him.

Clever job , Glenn Tucker. Using popular negative images of ghetto people to make yourself look good. But no matter what, trying mainstream placage will always make you look like a freak and a loser. Time to leave the kiddies alone and guh look a big ooman.⁴
